About Len

Len is prepared to lead the second largest city in the Commonwealth.

As mayor, Len will work to make schools, roads, and life better for every neighborhood in our great city. He is committed to making our government more accountable and accessible, so that all of our citizens can have a seat at the table of our great city.

An experienced leader and advocate for improvement and efficiency, Len is capable when it comes to leadership. Taking on challenges and finding their solutions is where Len is at his best. As a distinguished lawyer, Len is trained as a careful listener and negotiator, to find common ground between parties that may not always see eye-to-eye. These skills will serve him well in building consensus among the many voices of our city, so that we can forge meaningful solutions to our city’s toughest problems.

  • Served on the board of directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia to help our young people become productive citizens.
  • Member and Volunteer at Calvary Revival Church last 20 years

Professional Life

  • A consumer rights lawyer, protecting consumers across the Commonwealth and successfully argued a landmark case before the Supreme Court of Virginia that helps families facing foreclosure.
  • Served on the Mayor’s Advisory Committee for Comprehensive Planning Strategies, reviewing the City’s comprehensive plan to make sure it fits the current needs of our residents.
  • Chaired the City’s Transportation Toll Facility Advisory Committee, recommending the City Council not raise tolls whenever possible.
  • Served as President of his local bar association, leading it to being recognized as “The Best Local Bar Association in Virginia.”
  • Member of the Bar Council of the Virginia State Bar, which makes policy recommendations to the Supreme Court of Virginia concerning the better practice of law.
  • Member of the Chesapeake Community Emergency Response Team which renders assistance to our residents when Chesapeake first responders are overwhelmed during natural or man-made disasters.
  • Former officer in the Virginia Defense Force, a component of the Virginia National Guard, where among other assignments, he served as Officer-In-Charge of the Joint Operations Center Augmentation Detachment where he was decorated with a medal of commendation for his performance while on active duty during Hurricane Irene.
  • Former adjunct professor of business law at Norfolk State University and Tidewater Community College, where his teaching style encouraged students to ask questions and implement plans to realize their potential.
